Doing great!

Although I know just writing these words will be like a dagger through Betsy's heart...but we're doing great! I'm sure we don't have any friends near as good as we do back in Chicago...because we have NONE still, but all things considered we're OK!

It's really awesome (my words, not Brian's) being close to family. We stopped by on Saturday for a little visit and got to go see Emily particpate in Relay for Life. Shout out! She was on mile 10 of walking at 8pm when we saw her...she still had over 12 hours to go! She finished with some crazy tan/burn lines!

Speaking of burn lines...Brian and I went to the beach on Sunday. I think we were feeling like official locals (AKA no need reapply sunscreen) and now we're little lobsters. It was totally worth it - it was just a great day! We started with brunch on the beach - $15 bottomless mimosas. I thought that the restaurants would cheap out on you and give you mostly OJ, but they actually leave bottles of champagne at your table...awesome!!! It's really, really hard to gauge when an approriate time to leave is! I felt like I could stay all freaking day - and then I stood up! We went down to the beach and played in the ocean, Brian and I tossed the frisbee around, and we just laid out listening to the ocean and feeling the breeze. Have you booked your tickets to visit us yet?!?

And then to add the cherry on the sundae, Brian had an LA-style job today! That's right folks! He spent 6 hours at CBS studios pretending to be a gameshow contestant!!! He got to perform all sorts of outrageous stunts - he was on a lubed up slip-n-slide, wore a sumo outfit an did some other crazy stuff...and he got paid for it! He's officially in the biz!

We finished off the night with a bottle of wine (and by us, I mean me), some beers (Brian) and some awesome, AWESOME tacos...here's the recipe ladies: http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/beer-braised-chicken-tacos-50400000127537/

Life is pretty good, we're doing great!

Congrats Corey!

Well, it was a long weekend...a great weekend, so great I nearly finished an entire bottle of tums Sunday night. I guess I don't have a stomach made for beer and college food anymore - who'd of thunk!

I am so proud of Corey - not only was he recognized by one of the best business schools in the country at commencement, but he had a fabulous 4-year run. I can tell by meeting his fraternity brothers and friends that he had a great time and will cherish the memories forever! He had all of us wishing we were Wildcat alum. I spent a large chunk of post-graduation time chanting U-of-A! U-of-A! Maybe I will get one of those honorary degrees some day!

The family got together before graduation to write his ad in the book. We decided to do a hashtag but the school editor missed our humor and took us for lame grownups...so they took it upon themselves to change #collegegrad to #1 college grad!

Here he is post-ceremony (1 of 2). Doesn't he looks handsome!

We all scrambled to take pictures together - here are the best of the group!

After the Eller Business School ceremony, we went back to Corey's apartment for a BBQ with his roommates and their families. What college BBQ isn't complete without some beer pong. For some reason, the teams divided between college vs. non-college...guess who won?

After we were all good and buzzed, it was time for graduation ceremony #2...this one was with the entire graduating 2013 class. We were not the most excited, I mean we were leaving beer pong to go sit in the bleachers...but this turned out to be full on amazing!!!

They decorated the foodtball stadium with Class of 2013 on the field and broadcoast everything on the jumbo screen and additional screens on all sides. They even put Corey's name in lights. After several speaches, we finally got to the good part! The school put on a video that played clips and music from the past 4 years, and they handed out wristbands to all of the students so that at one key part during the video, all of their wristbands lit up and started flashing their school colors! The show ended with fireworks. You could hear the student section chearing like crazy - it was so awesome and you could feel the energy...like I said, I wish I was a Wildcat - U OF A! U OF A!

I wish Corey nothing but the best in the next phase of life. I'm excited for him to come home to LA so all of my siblings will be together in 1 state again! More than anything, I'm VERY glad that Brian and I got to spend the weekend in Tucson with everyone and be there for Corey's special day. Bear down...#wildcatforlife.

Long ceremony!

The ceremony started over an hour ago and we are half way through the names. The worst news is that there is another full school production tonight!

Other worse news includes a late night out drinking and an empty belly!

Brian tried a new drink last night called a Dr. Pepper shot. You drop a lit shot of amoretto and 151 into beer and chug...big hit!

Once ceremony 1 of 2 is over we head to a BBQ at Corey's apartment! Congrats to Corey!

Cheers!

The Desert

So, who would have thought LA has traffic?!?! We finally got out and made it to our first pit stop: Palm Springs. Childhood memories of a desert oasis and endless hotel swimming pools. But today we don't have time for that, today is only a pit stop on the road!

Our stop: Hadley's Fruit Orchard.

This place was awesome: tons of free samples (including wine). Our loot included a bottle of blackberry meade, flavored sticks of honey (sour cherry, watermelon...yuck. We picked them out for Kristin anyway!) and a delicious bottle of sarsaparilla! Emily got a banana-date shake, their specialty. Kinda gross.

As you can see, Brian has returned to his trusty spot as driver!

We should be in Tucson around 10pm...

Road Trip...Tucson, AZ

Corey graduates from the University of Arizona on Friday and the whole clan is on their way! We rented a giant van and have hit the road for an 8 hour desert ride to get there...wish us luck!

I'm so proud of Corey and can remember the emotions that I went through when I graduated and can feel for the guy. Graduation is a bigger deal to the family than the graduate. I think Corey could probably postpone this for a little while and be ok. But he's not the decider and the time has come  so its my job as his older and wiser sister to take him out this week and show him a good old college time...it's hard work but somebody's got to do it!

I sure will miss this guy though! He saw the suitcases and I think he thought we were going back "home."
